Daily Experiences

The whole covid time was shocking for me, primarily because my daily schedule was changed completely. I only thought about online classes as a child when I didn’t want to go to school. LOL. After that, I never thought about it.

2020 was a crucial year for me because I was in class 12th and preparing for the famous and hyped exam- JEE. We had 2 attempts then, and I had to improve my score in the 2nd one. But before that, lockdowns were imposed, and classes started going online.

It was scary for me to change the way I studied back then. I thought online classes weren’t as good as offline ones. I was later proved wrong by myself and time.

Slowly, I adapted to the online learning mode and started noticing many of its benefits in learning.

  • More time to study
  • Saves money
  • Possibility to learn at your own pace up to a greater extent than in offline classes.
  • Less time-wastage than offline classes (including class noise, transportation, etc.)
  • Having more time for hobbies

Note that the above advantages only hold true when you want to take advantage.

The benefits give a false impression that online classes are better than offline classes. I also thought the same, but later I realised that online classes are better for studies. Still, offline classes are better for holistic development. It is because real life should not be lived in a fixed room but between people, where we can learn managing people and other unignorable aspects of life. It teaches us how to be on our own to a greater level and forces us to learn necessary non-study skills. It means that offline too has a lot of benefits.

I have heard from most places that students are facing problems studying in online classes. I don't agree to this because it's a matter of self-discipline. Studying can be efficiently done in online classes. Many have done this and they aren't exceptions. As far distractions are concerned, students get distracted in offline classes, not through the internet but other things, such as mind-wandering during classes.

This perspective altered my view of seeing offline classes. And I want to conclude in 1 sentence: Though online classes are better for studying, that is one aspect of life, offline classes are better for all aspects of life.

We often encounter similar situations. It ranges in our daily habits. But there are times when we find ourselves in situations where we have some terrible experiences linked.

We often get scared or get reminded of our earlier mistakes in finding ourselves in such situations.

So, what should we do in such situations?

Accept that you are in a similar situation where you have choices. Then analyse what you did wrong and what we could have done correctly. It requires faith because correcting found mistakes is more challenging than spotting errors. It needs courage.

Finally, change your choices and thus make the similar bad situation a different and possibly better experience.

I was writing just a few posts these days because I was busy with several things to know and learn. I experienced many activities for the first time, the prime being living on my own, including doing basic stuff like cleaning, washing, etc., all thanks to offline classes.

Offline Classes have merits and demerits compared with online classes, but while comparing, We must take the similarities into account. All comparable things have some similarity, that’s why we compare them; to know which is better in a particular aspect.

Coming to the point, I learned that there are people of different and sometimes clashing mindsets, and you have to maintain your sanity while living or engaging with them.

Some behave in a way that reflects that they think they know everything; they never acknowledge that they might be wrong. Some talk in a way that sometimes is good and the reverse. Some are privileged while having a successful path in the past and think that they will succeed only based on their previous success. This mindset is more common than you think. I also possessed this mindset before, so I know its consequences.

In addition, I faced ‘fake confidence’. It influenced me profoundly. It is indicated when a person says or behaves in a wrong way but shows the opposite- with confidence. It is challenging to manage this phenomenon. Unlike most students and me, I also encountered people who had wealthy families and better opportunities and thus a better past. It made me feel low on my capabilities. I thought that they had a better exposure than I in a field. Therefore, their skill level must be more than mine. Now I realise that this is not always true, hopefully. A person can develop her skill set by working on it. It doesn’t always require things that come from privileges.

Living with these wrong mindsets while focusing on your path is not easy; it’s a skill indeed. It’s a skill that directly links to a quality called perseverance. It is an invaluable skill and a considerable determinant of success.

The bottom line is that people have mindsets from all ends of the possible mindset spectrum, including wrong, neutral-depending on the situation and perspective, and right. So, we need to think before accepting thoughts as facts, remember our aim and be aware of fake confidence.

I know that the title seems wrong. But this is what I have observed in myself and the people around me.

I have often seen people quitting because they couldn’t understand a topic, including me. I didn’t accept I was doing it, but I did.

This is the step where many problems remain unsolved and accepted as our “capabilities,” which are less.

After doing it once, it does a chain reaction with other fields, in which we think that we can’t do that and then another too.

On another end of the spectrum, as an application of this fact, people continue reading subjects, regardless of whether they understand them or not, just to say in their inner self that they are trying. This will not do any good because you are continuously not understanding the topic.

So, understand more. It will solve most problems in your life.

It might happen to you that you have learned and got impressed by people's qualities and wanted to connect with them. So you tried to talk to them, but they spoke unfriendly to you. In this case, most begin disliking them or blame themselves for liking such people.

Then let me tell you. This is very common. It happened to me also.

But, As I wrote previously, disliking them is not the solution?..... Then what is?

It is to accept that despite their outstanding qualities, they are still humans. They make mistakes, they get jealous, they mistreat some.

Haven't you done that at some time?

We all have and realized later that it was wrong. The same can happen with them, possibly.

That's why forgive them, as you did to yourself.

But, until they realize this, don't go around them all the time in the hope that they will speak nicely to you at that time.

When they start developing kindness in themselves (yes, it can be learned), they will come to you; you don't have to go to them.

Perspective matters

This mistreatment is advantageous when seen from a different angle.

Let me explain...

You have seen many good qualities in them and wanted to form a connection so that you can learn worthful stuff in their company. So, go ahead. You don't necessarily need to be in their company to grow. But, you need to believe in the quality, not just a person who possesses it.

You have gained a lot from them, and they don't even demand anything from you. Isn't this good? .... You have learned without giving anything in return because they don't require from you. It might feel unfair, but it isn't as you want to give, but they don't want to accept.

This doesn't mean that you should not well behave with them later (in case they come to you later) to get this benefit. Both have different advantages.
